This stage of education is divided into three general categories:
- Lower secondary education (grades 11-14)
Lower secondary education is for students who have completed their primary education and are looking to continue their education.
- Upper secondary education (grades 15-18)

- Certificate/Diploma
A certificate/diploma is a certificate or diploma awarded after completion of secondary education.

Abu Dhabi Institute for Technical and Vocational Education and Training is an initiative of the Government of Abu Dhabi that provides high quality technical and vocational training programmes.
The Technical and Vocational Training Corporation is another institution established to provide technical and vocational training programs for males and females according to the requirements of the labor market.
