What are the parts of the SAT test?
The SAT test consists of two main sections: 1- Mathematics: It includes 58 multiple-choice questions, 20 questions in which the use of a calculator is prohibited, and 38 questions in which the use of a calculator is permitted to be solved.
Reading and writing: It is divided into two main sections:
The Reading and Grammar section includes 52 multiple-choice questions that involve reading paragraphs or sentences in various literary and scientific fields.
Writing and Language Department :
It includes 44 multiple-choice questions covering grammar, meanings, and writing skills.
The test also includes an essay section, which is optional and scored separately from the rest of the exam. Some universities require the essay section of the SAT, so you can always ask the university you are interested in attending about this section.
How long is the SAT exam ?
The SAT test is three hours long , and if you are taking the essay portion of the exam, 50 minutes are added, making the total exam duration three hours and fifty minutes.
What is the SAT score ? Each section of the test is evaluated with a score ranging from 200 to 800, then the scores of all sections are added together to obtain the final SAT score, which reaches a maximum of 1600.
If you take the essay section of the exam, you will receive a separate score from the rest of the SAT.
Factors That May Make the SAT Difficult
Here are some of the factors that make the SAT a difficult test for many students. These include time pressure, difficult math concepts, challenging reading passages, and a high-pressure environment.
-
Factor 1: Time pressure
The SAT is a timed test, so even if you understand all the content, the time pressure can lead to fatal mistakes, and you can also become overly anxious and panicky. On the SAT Reading section, for example, you will have 65 minutes to answer 52 questions, which comes out to 75 seconds per question. That’s without taking into account the time it will take to read the passages, too.
That's why developing an effective reading strategy before you sit down to take the test is so important. In the writing section, you have 35 minutes to answer 44 questions, which comes out to 48 seconds per question, so you may have to spend some extra time reading in this section as well.
You won't have a lot of time for each question in the Math No Calculator and No Calculator sections, and it's easy to get stuck on problems that bog you down. In the Math No Calculator section, you get 25 minutes to answer 20 questions, or 75 seconds per question. In the Calculator section, you have 55 minutes to answer 38 questions, or 87 seconds per question.
Because of these time constraints, one critical SAT skill is knowing when to move on if you find yourself getting stuck on an answer to a question that might take you too long.
-
Factor 2: Unfamiliar Math Concepts
Although the content on the SAT is unlikely to go beyond what you learned in high school math classes, there may be some questions that bring up some concepts that have faded from your memory.
The test also includes some more advanced concepts, including basic trigonometry. If you feel stuck in any of the topics tested on the SAT Math , you will need to revisit them before you are ready to answer questions in a high-pressure testing environment.
-
Factor 3: Challenge reading paragraphs
The passages on the SAT are all excerpts from actual published texts (at least one historical text), so they are written at a fairly high level. You will sometimes come across language that is a bit outdated and difficult to understand.
If you are not a great reader, these passages may take a little more effort to understand. You will need to spend some time developing your reading skills and vocabulary before the test.
-
Factor 4: High stress levels
One of the main reasons why the SAT is so difficult for many students is that they put too much pressure on themselves. It’s not hard to see why this happens. Colleges rely heavily on test scores to judge applicants, so it sometimes feels like your entire future rests on this one test. If you’re too obsessed with how important it is to do well on the test, you could end up falling into a psychological crisis such as anxiety disorders, stress, or depression, which can have the opposite effect.
Learning how to cope with SAT stress may be the most important thing you can do for your mental health, which is so important.

Factors that make the SAT exam in the UAE easier and more convenient
There are also some aspects of the SAT that can make it easier to take than some of the tests you've taken in your classes. Here are some of the most notable factors.
The first factor: Structure and types of questions :
The sections on the SAT are always arranged in the same order, which is as follows:
- Reading
- Writing and Language
- Math without a calculator
- Math with calculator
This means that you never have to worry about taking the test in terms of the basic format of the questions.
You can also anticipate what types of questions you'll encounter and how they'll be worded if you review enough practice material. The College Board writes questions in very specific ways that don't change significantly from one test to the next.
Factor 2: Say no to memorization
You don't need to memorize a bunch of questions to do well on the test. The math section gives you most of the formulas you'll need to answer the questions. Furthermore, the questions in the reading and writing sections are based on reading comprehension and basic grammar knowledge. So while it's certainly possible to study for the SAT, it's not the same kind of studying you would do for other tests.
Factor 3: Almost all multiple choice
All questions on the SAT are multiple choice except for the grid questions in the math sections, of which there are only 13 (five in the No Calculator section and eight in the Calculator section).
For the most part, all the answers to the questions are in the test if you know where to look.
Factor 4: It's no problem if you guess:
No points are deducted for incorrect answers on the SAT, so don’t worry about filling in an answer you’re not 100% sure of. If you really can’t decide between two options or are confused, just pick a random answer. Even if you get it wrong, it’s no different than if you left the question blank, so it’s in your best interest to give it a try.
Tips to make the SAT exam in the UAE easier:
Now that you've identified some of the qualities of the SAT that may make it more difficult or easier, I'll give you some tips on how to adapt your approach to the test to make its challenges easier for you.
-
Do a lot of practice tests.
This is what you should do if you want the SAT to be easy for you. The main reason students feel confused and overwhelmed by the SAT is that they go into the test blindly and unprepared. When you are familiar with and deal with the questions before the test, it better prepares you to take the test and pass it easily.
If you take practice tests for the SAT, you will begin to see that the exam is possible and that it is within your capabilities. In short, you will break the fear of the exam: you just have to get used to reading efficiently, pacing yourself, and staying calm in the face of questions that confuse you at first.
- Learn to relieve stress
Taking standardized tests is much easier if you avoid putting a lot of pressure on yourself. When you are so preoccupied with negative thoughts and fear of failure and its consequences, every question you ignore will make you more anxious and fearful.
Learning to calm yourself down will make the test much easier. I suggest that you practice meditation with its different techniques and perform your prayers regularly, in order to maintain your mental health and reduce stress and anxiety during the exam.
-
Use the deletion process:
Instead of viewing all the answers to a question as possible options, look at them with a very critical eye. Try to find reasons to cross out answers that don't make sense or are not supported by concrete evidence in the paragraph. This is a big help, especially in the reading section where it can be difficult to sort out the almost correct answers from the absolutely correct ones.
-
Check and correct your mistakes:
You won’t be able to solve all of your problems by simply taking a set of practice tests without further analysis. After each test, review what you missed and figure out how you can avoid similar mistakes in the future. Also, try to find other practice questions that test the same skills as the ones you missed so you can learn how to solve them correctly.
With each practice test, you should master more and more material until you reach a point where none of the questions on the test can bother you.
-
Familiarize yourself with the nature of the exam.
It is important to know the nature of the SAT exam, its sections and parts before taking it, as this will save you a lot of time during the exam and make you less nervous because you have a prior idea about it.
-
Practice the different sections of the exam.
This is the advice that no study plan is without. You must, of course, study and practice the exam sections. You can solve real exam models online, and in this case, make sure to give yourself a time similar to the duration of the exam. Train yourself to match your speed of solution to the time limit. This type of test will not only help you train for the exam, but will also give you a general idea of your current level and what you need to do to achieve the result you aspire to in order to enter university.
-
Start reading
Train yourself to read different texts in preparation for the SAT reading section. You can find endless resources and references on the Internet. You can also look at the different books published by The College Board, which administers the various aptitude and college admissions tests in the United States.
You can find books that include SAT practice tests taken from past exams. You can purchase these books from the College Board's online store.
-
Try hiring a private tutor.

-
Improve your memory
Some of the most important mathematical laws are listed on the first page of the SAT exam , but you still need to memorize them by heart, as memorizing them will save you a lot of time during the test. Perhaps the most important way to memorize mathematical laws and equations is through continuous practice and practicing solving many problems, which makes them ingrained in your mind.
-
Grow your vocabulary
In addition to solving exercises and exercises related to the SAT test , it is also important to enrich your vocabulary and word base. You can do this by reading some books and articles that contain new terms and concepts, as The College Board publishes from time to time a list of suggested readings that you can review as a kind of preparation for the reading section of the test. Every time you read and find a new word, underline it and look up its meaning, then use it in sentences of your own composition or in your daily life until you memorize it, and believe me, this will benefit you in the long run, and not just at the moment of the exam. Now that you have a comprehensive idea about the SAT exam and learned the most important tips that will help you prepare for it, all that remains for you is to make the decision and start preparing for it, to then secure your seat in one of the American universities
Finally, we must ask ourselves, is the SAT a difficult test? Will it be difficult for you to pass it?
Anyone can do well on a test, it all depends on how well you prepare for it. Make sure you take plenty of practice tests , work through your mistakes carefully, and learn strategies that can help you reduce your stress levels if test anxiety is a problem for you.
If you do all of these things, there is nothing stopping you from getting a great score on the SAT.
