The Higher Colleges of Technology is one of the largest educational institutions in the UAE, known for its applied education for students. Its branches are spread across 16 locations in the UAE. It aims to grant academic qualifications to students and offers various specializations including aeronautical engineering, health sciences, business administration, accounting, computer science and information, and other specializations.

The Higher Colleges of Technology is the largest applied higher education institution in the United Arab Emirates. The colleges offer more than 70 study programs in the following specializations: Applied Media, Business Administration, Computer and Information Sciences, Education, Engineering Technology and Sciences, and Health Sciences. Admission Criteria
The admission and enrolment process for all academic programmes offered at the Higher Colleges of Technology is subject to meeting the criteria specified below:
General Admission Requirements
Students who meet the following requirements are eligible to apply for admission to the Higher Colleges of Technology, in accordance with the admission policy and regulations for the academic programmes at the Higher Colleges of Technology:
Obtaining a high school certificate with a grade of at least 60% or its equivalent in any of its tracks.
Emirates Standardized Test - EmSAT - in English or equivalent.
This process is carried out according to the following mechanisms and standards:
Applied Track: Applied Bachelor's Programs
Graduates of the Ministry of Education in the elite track or equivalent, according to the following criteria:
- Obtaining a high school average of 60% as a minimum to enroll in all academic programs except for bachelor’s programs
- Pharmacy, Nursing and Education 65% minimum for nursing, 70% minimum for education and 80% minimum for pharmacy or equivalent.
- Obtain a minimum score of 1100 on the AMSAT English test or equivalent.
- Obtaining a minimum score of 800 on the Arabic Language EmSAT test for the Education and Pharmacy programs, and a minimum score of 600 for the Nursing program or equivalent.
- Obtain a minimum score of 900 on the AMSAT test.
- Mathematics for the Pharmacy program, and a minimum score of 700 for the Education and Nursing programs or equivalent.
- Get a minimum score of 900 on the test.
- EmSAT in two subjects of Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or their equivalent for the Pharmacy program. And a minimum score of 700 in two subjects of Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or their equivalent for the Nursing program.
- Passing the personal interview for the education, pharmacy, nursing and emergency medical services programs. The admission that will be offered to students wishing to join these specializations will be conditional until passing the personal interview.
Graduates of the Ministry of Education in the advanced track or equivalent, according to the following criteria:
- Obtaining a high school average of 60% as a minimum to enroll in all academic programs, with the exception of engineering technology programs, except for the maritime transportation program, and with the exception of the Bachelor of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Education.
- Obtaining a high school average of 70% as a minimum to enroll in engineering technology programs, except for the marine transportation program.
- Obtain a minimum score of 1100 on the EmSAT English test or equivalent.
Graduates of the Ministry of Education in the general track or its equivalent, according to the following criteria:
- Obtaining a high school average of 70% as a minimum for enrollment
- In all academic programs, except for engineering technology, education, pharmacy and nursing programs.
- Obtaining a high school average of at least 80%.
- Obtain a minimum score of 800 on the EmSAT Math test.
- Obtain a minimum score of 750 on the test.
- -EmSAT Physics or get a score
- Minimum 600 on EmSAT Chemistry.
Graduates of the Ministry of Education in the applied track are eligible for admission to the Business Administration, Engineering Technology and Science programs, according to the following criteria:
Requirements for admission to business administration programs:
- Obtaining a high school average of at least 70%.
- Obtain a minimum score of 450 on the EmSAT Mathematics test.
- Obtaining a high school average of at least 80%.
- Obtain a minimum score of 800 on the EmSAT Math test.
- Obtain a minimum score of 750 on the EmSAT Physics test or obtain a score of 600
- Minimum score on EmSAT Chemistry.
The requirements for admission to the Bachelor of Education program for the preparatory stage are :
- Obtaining a high school average of 70% minimum in the elite track or equivalent, 75% minimum for the advanced track, and an average of 80% for the general track or equivalent.
- Obtain a minimum score of 800 on the EmSAT Arabic Language Test.
- Obtain a minimum score of 700 on the EmSAT Math test or equivalent.
- Obtain a minimum score of 1100 on the EmSAT English test or equivalent.
- Passing the personal interview required for a program in education.
- The admission that will be offered to students wishing to join this major will be conditional until they pass the personal interview.
- Obtaining a high school average of 85% as a minimum for the advanced track or equivalent and 80% as a minimum for the elite track or equivalent.
- Obtain a minimum score of 800 on the EmSAT Arabic Language Test.
- Obtain a minimum score of 900 on the EmSAT Math test or equivalent.
- Obtain a minimum score of 900 on the EmSAT test in two subjects: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or equivalent.
- Obtain a minimum score of 1100 on the EmSAT English test or equivalent.
- Passing the required personal interview. The admission that will be offered to students wishing to join this major will be conditional until they pass the personal interview.
- Obtaining a high school average of 80% as a minimum for the track
- General or equivalent and 70% minimum for the advanced track and 65% minimum for the elite track or equivalent.
- Obtain a minimum score of 600 on the EmSAT Arabic Language Test.
- Obtain a minimum score of 700 on the EmSAT – Mathematics test or equivalent.
- Get a minimum score of 700 in
- EmSAT test in two subjects from Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or equivalent.
- Obtain a minimum score of 1100 on the EmSAT English test or equivalent.
- Pass the required personal interview.
- The admission that will be offered to students wishing to join this major will be conditional until they pass the personal interview.
- Pass the personal interview.
- Pass the physical fitness test
The Higher Colleges of Technology may consider the possibility of enrolling students who do not meet the previous conditions and standards in specific programs, in accordance with the directives and decisions taken in this regard by the Higher Colleges of Technology’s senior management.
English language requirements
To be admitted to any of the undergraduate programmes at the Higher Colleges of Technology, a student must have a minimum score of 1100 on the EmSAT English Language Test or a score of 5.0 on the IELTS Academic Test.
The Higher Colleges of Technology may conditionally accept students who do not achieve a score of 1100 in the EmSAT English Language Test or its equivalent in some specializations offered by the Higher Colleges of Technology for one academic year. Their acceptance will not be considered final until they complete one or more English language courses. They will then be allowed to register in the courses of the study programs to which they are affiliated.
