TOEFL test sections
As I told you before, there are four sections in the TOEFL iBT test, all of which are solved online:
- Reading.
- Listening.
- Speaking.
- Writing.
- The Reading section measures your ability to understand academic passages in English.
- There are three or four paragraphs of increasing difficulty, each paragraph having 12-14 questions.
- You will have 60-80 minutes to complete the section.
2. Listening :
- The Listening section measures your ability to understand spoken English in North American English.
- There are six sections with five questions each.
- You will have 60-90 minutes to complete the section.
3. Conversation :
- The Speaking section measures your ability to talk about familiar topics in English.
- There are six tasks: two independent tasks and four integrated tasks.
- You will have 20 minutes to complete the section.
- The writing section measures your ability to write in English.
- There are two types of tasks: one integrated and the other independent.
- You will have 50 minutes to complete the tasks.
The discontinued TOEFL PBT was a paper-and-pencil test measuring reading, listening, grammar and writing skills and was offered in locations where online testing was not possible.
The revised TOEFL Paper-delivered test , which replaced the TOEFL PBT , measures reading, listening and writing skills. There is no speaking section due to the inability to meet the technical needs of conversations.
