Why most expats stall
Almost every adult learner in Dubai hits the same three walls:
- They learn the wrong Arabic first. Textbooks teach Modern Standard Arabic — the Arabic of news broadcasts and official documents. Nobody speaks it at a café. Meanwhile the Arabic you actually hear in Dubai is Gulf or Levantine or Egyptian dialect, depending on who you are talking to.
- They start with the alphabet and stop three weeks later. Script first feels rigorous and kills momentum. You can hold real conversations before you read a single letter.
- They study without ever speaking. Apps build recognition, not production. Recognising a word and producing it under social pressure are different skills.

💡 Our usual recommendation: start with spoken Gulf dialect for the first few months so you get real wins early, then add reading and MSA once speaking has momentum. Reversing that order is the single most common reason adults quit.

No promises about fluency in thirty days. Realistically, with one or two focused hours a week:

Frequently asked
I tried an app for a year and got nowhere. Why would this be different?
Apps train recognition. They rarely make you produce speech under real time pressure, and they almost always teach MSA rather than the dialect spoken around you. A tutor corrects you in the moment — that feedback loop is what apps cannot replicate.
Do I need to learn the alphabet first?
No — and for most adults, starting there is counterproductive. Speaking first builds the motivation that carries you through the script later.
How long until I can hold a conversation?
Honestly, it depends on frequency and how much you practise between lessons. Short regular sessions beat occasional long ones. We will give you a realistic estimate after your assessment rather than a marketing number.
Is my age a problem?
No. Adults learn languages differently from children — slower on accent, faster on structure and vocabulary because you can reason about grammar. Most of our adult learners make steady progress.
Can I learn Arabic for work specifically?
Yes. Business Arabic — meetings, correspondence, workplace courtesies — is one of the most requested tracks.
