We often hear about standardized tests or the EMSAT certificate and their importance.
This certificate is considered necessary for most educational stages in the Emirates. However, some people face some difficulties in understanding the procedures and conditions required, whether applying for it, preparing for it, or even issuing the certificate.
In this article, we will learn about some concepts that must be aware of when applying for the EMSAT certificate or EMSAT test .
What is the AMSAT certificate?
The EMSAT certificate is a certificate accredited by the Ministry of Education in the UAE. Its standards are based on measuring the level of students in basic subjects, such as mathematics , Arabic, English , and science, and some advanced specialized subjects later on.
The EMSAT certificate is a set of tests; known as standardized tests, which are conducted electronically for students throughout different educational stages. This certificate is very important as proof that the student is ready for the next stage and has acquired the basic concepts that must be available as a basis for what comes after it.
Its importance lies in the fact that it is considered a major requirement in schools and universities, whether private or governmental education, in addition to the fact that it provides the student with the information required according to his inclinations and the specialization he has chosen.
However, starting from 2023, the requirement to take the Emirates Standardized Test (EMSAT) to progress in the academic track will be removed, meaning that it is no longer mandatory to apply to universities and allows greater flexibility towards taking the test.
However, other conditions must be met to apply to the desired colleges. If this test is not used, equivalent papers must be submitted that indicate the student’s educational degree and his/her competence for the college to which he/she is applying.
However, the EMSAT and the Emirates Test still have their place, as this has allowed the Ministry of Education and decision-makers to evaluate and measure student performance and how the adopted approach has been able to achieve maximum benefit for the student and thus achieve an honorable professional career.
The EMSAT exams are conducted according to international standard criteria, so this certificate can be considered a global indicator of the student’s eligibility and competence.
Admission requirements for obtaining the EMSAT certificate
First, the student must take into account the application deadlines announced on the Ministry of Education’s website, in addition to the applicant’s personal identification documents:
- A copy of a valid passport.
- A copy of the record extract.
- A copy of the birth certificate.
- A copy of both sides of the ID card
- Recent photo
- Original high school certificate or a copy of the twelfth grade certificate
- High school equivalency certificate in case of graduation from private schools that do not follow the government curriculum.
- A copy of the mother’s valid passport, in addition to a copy of the family record and a copy of the mother’s ID card, in the case of children of female citizens.
If no proof documents are available, the student can bring his/her ID card.
The admission requirements for the EMSAT certificate vary according to the educational stage, the chosen university, and its specialization. The requirements and the required grade for each subject vary according to the college specialization itself. For example, the College of Medicine and Health Sciences requires:
- 90% minimum overall average in the twelfth grade certificate.
- Pass the standardized EMSAT exam in Chemistry or Biology with a score of 1100 or pass the equivalent on the college exam.
- Get a score of 900 on the EMSAT Arabic Language Test.
- While the College of Engineering:
- Requires passing the EMSAT Math test with a score of 1100 or passing the equivalent on the college exam.
- Obtain a score of 500 in the Chemistry or Physics exam or pass the equivalent on the college exam.
- A score of 900 on the Arabic Language Testing System (AMSAT) or equivalent.
Therefore, one must be aware of the desired field and the college to be reached in order to know its requirements and train on this basis. Students are evaluated and selected based on the grade they obtained in the twelfth grade in addition to the English language exams.
However, it can be said that in principle, to apply for academic education in general, the student’s percentage must not be less than 80% in the twelfth grade certificate for admission to most colleges, in addition to obtaining a score of at least 1250 in the English language test or its equivalent in TOEFL or IELTS , and the accreditation must be from the British Council with knowledge of the conditions for equivalence of subjects while the education was British or from outside the country and obtaining the equivalence certificate.
How to get the results of yesterday?
Some things must be taken into consideration to get the desired result :
- The student must register or create an account on the Ministry’s website to apply for the exam first.
- Submit all required papers and documents for application.
- Choosing a date to take the exam, which cannot be changed or cancelled, no matter what happens.
- Take the exam
- After taking the exam, the student must log in to the Ministry’s website.
- Fill out the application electronically
- Payment of the certificate fees
- Then wait until the application is studied or the result appears
- Then the result is received.
It should be noted that the date of submitting the result request should not be less than two days from the date of the test. The student usually receives a notification on his email that the result has appeared on the Education platform for the EMSAT test, and it does not appear on any other platform.
How to issue an AMSAT certificate
The Emsat certificate is usually issued approximately three weeks after the date of taking the test, after paying the certificate fees. The results of the Emsat tests for twelfth grade students are announced after the equivalent of 15 working days from the date of taking the test, and after 10 days for students in other years. This certificate remains valid for 18 months from the date of obtaining it.
The Ministry of Education stated that there is no indicator for success or failure in the EMSAT exam, but some colleges may require certain criteria in their conditions, such as obtaining a certain grade in some subjects related to the study of the specialization.
This excludes non-citizen students who are subject to an international education system and intend to complete their education outside the UAE. In this case, an equivalency of the AMSAT certificate is not required.
In the end, the AMSAT certificate is nothing but a set of tests whose main objective is to assess the extent to which students possess the basic concepts and skills required according to the educational stage and the chosen specialization, to measure the extent of students’ readiness for the next stage, and thus build an educational system whose interest is to serve students and qualify them for the labor market and achieve a bright future for them.
