IB Sciences Tutoring in Dubai — Biology, Chemistry and Physics
The IB sciences changed. From first assessment in 2025, Biology, Chemistry and Physics moved to a new two-paper model: Paper 3 and the option topics are gone. Older past papers still teach useful science, but their structure no longer simulates the exam — and students revising from them are practising for a test they won't sit.
How the current IB sciences are assessed
Biology, Chemistry and Physics share the same model:

Students also take part in a collaborative sciences project during the course.
Where marks are actually lost
- Paper 1B. Data-based questions reward interpreting unfamiliar experimental evidence quickly — a skill separate from knowing the syllabus.
- Revising from old papers. Practising a structure that no longer exists.
- The scientific investigation. 20% of the grade. Students who under-plan it lose marks that are among the most controllable in the course. We coach the process; the work must be the student's own.
- Extended responses. Precise terminology and structured reasoning, not general descriptions.

Is there still a Paper 3 in IB Biology, Chemistry or Physics?
No. From first assessment in 2025, the sciences have two papers plus the scientific investigation.
Can we use old IB past papers?
For practising content, selectively. For exam structure, no — the format changed in 2025.
Can you write or edit my child's investigation?
No. We coach the process — research question, method, analysis, evaluation and draft feedback — but the work must be the student's own, as IB rules require.
Can we combine sciences with IB Maths?
Yes. Note that IB Maths itself is being revised for students starting the Diploma from August 2027.
